I am Majed Ali, a self-taught baker and recipe creator who has developed a passion for food photography and styling for the past 10 years, since the beginning of my journey into the culinary world.
I live in Dubai with my beautiful mom after my dad passed away a few years ago.
My passion for all things baking began when a colleague introduced me to banana bread, and from the first bite, I was drawn into this world. I started collecting cookbooks, watching videos online and honing my skills in the craft. It wasn’t easy back then, because we didn’t have a lot of cooking schools to learn from, and the idea of welcoming a male baker into this discreet community, was challenging. Nevertheless, that did not stop from me from chasing my dreams and pushing the boundaries further to enter the space.
As my confidence in my palette grew, and following the launch of my small YouTube channel, I decided that I wanted to imprint a part of me on each recipe I created….a so ensued my dive into the incorporation of the Middle Eastern into each dish I created. Inspired by childhood memories, people I love, life’s journeys and adventures.
I became drawn to ways on how to improve the presentation of my food, in order to truly imprint a part of my character into each recipe, while doing so, a side hobby of food photography developed. After which I felt like this then opened the door to blogging. As more and more people took to my creations, I wanted to be able to reach out to as wide of an audience as possible. Therefore, I made my blog bilingual, with all content posted in both Arabic and English. I felt that in the Middle East, access to recipes that are not in English are hard to come by and as a result we are limited to the dishes we develop. Growing up in the UAE with both modern Arabic and European cultures has allowed me to extend my palette and be able to share that experience with as many people as possible. It is what truly drives my passion for creating recipes...and I want to bring people together in one place.
My food blog is created for those of you that love to express their personality and life through feeding others. To me ingredients do not just create meals, they help feed the soul and they allow those of us that may not be as polished with our words to describe our feelings with what we create with our hands. The art of developing dishes and watching the ones you love and care about feast on and enjoy, is what life should be about.
